A distinctive gold pocket watch was stolen after thieves carried out an untidy search of a house in Carlow Road, Ringstead.
The burglary took place between 8pm and 9pm on Tuesday, September 1, when the offender/s gained access via the rear of the property.
A spokesman for Northants Police said: “Once inside they made an untidy search, before stealing the gold Elgin pocket watch and chain.
“The pocket watch was made in 1915, and has the letters R I N engraved on the back of it.
“Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have been offered this watch in unusual circumstances.”
Officers would also like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area of Carlow Road, between the stated times.
